Honoring Our Military Families... Day 3: Red, White, & Blue - We Love You! Day -> The Fairmont WV Army National Guard represented by Sergeant Wikle and Captain Keffer brought their HMMWV to the East Dale Elementary Campus as part of our Military Families' Month Celebration. During their visit, they provided our learners with a general overview of what it looks like for them to serve our country.

Day 2: Purple Up Day -> The East Dale Elementary School Learning Community demonstrated how "plum crazy" they were for our military families by wearing purple and listening to a book, Purple Up! We serve too!, by Shavonne Gibson during Library/Media that culminated with the learners creating thank you cards for those who serve.

Day 1: Crazy Camo Day -> The East Dale Elementary School Learning Community demonstrated how "crazy" they were for our military families by wearing camouflage.

Teachers will be available for instruction assistance for all assignments during the following hours:
10:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-3:30pm
The remainder of the day the teachers will be in safe school training.

East Dale is celebrating Purple Up month. It is an opportunity to honor military children from all branches of the military. We also want to show our appreciation to our military soldiers, so we are collecting non-perishable snacks and sweets the entire month of April! The items will be delivered to our Fairmont Armory for their May Military drill weekend.

"STARBOOKS Café"...
Mrs. Merrill, Mrs. Parrish, and Ms. Rakocky transformed themselves into "book" baristas. They provided their "customers" with a menu for "Sipping, Tasting, and Reading" their "freshly brewed" book. After receiving their menu, the "book aficionados" perused the various offerings, Fantasy, Graphic Novels, Historical Fiction, Mystery, Realistic Fiction, Science Fiction, from the "STARBOOKS Café" and started their "tastings".
“BEE Our Guest”… Dr. Seuss Family Night
East Dale Elementary School under the guidance of Ms. Nichols, Library / Media Teacher, celebrated Dr. Seuss’s legacy in conjunction with Read Across America by hosting a family night that had the learners rotating through 4 Seusstactical Stations.
East Dale Elementary School is ready for the Spring Book Fair! The Book Fair will run February 27 thru March 2!
Some days you just need reminded that a four-legged friend is there to encourage and depend on you as much as you depend on them. Mattie Girl was a star at East Dale Elementary for just that reason.
WV Geological Survey's Coloring Contest WINNER…
Wyatt Shipman, a second grade learner, is the winner of the WV Geological Survey's Coloring Contest, "Draw Jeff", which had artists draw a picture of the WV State Fossil, the Jefferson Ground Sloth. As the winner, Wyatt got to take a tour of the museum, won a prize basket, and earned each learner in Mrs. Ridenour’s Class a Jefferson Ground Sloth Sticker! We are so proud of Wyatt!
“Doggone” Fun in PreK…
For Pet Week, the learners created a “My Pet” Defining Map utilizing pet pictures that they brought from home. For the culminating activity, Miss Moran had her friend, Tae, to bring in her therapy dog for a class visit.
100th Day of Learning...
Mrs. Williams’ Kindergarten Classroom was filled with “geriatric” learners playing bingo utilizing their 100th Day Trail Mix as they celebrated what they have learned over the past 100 days.

Mrs. Kisner, Miss Moran, Mrs. Posey, Mrs. Shears, and Mrs. Swick hosted a Family Night, "PreK is Curious", which had the participants rotating through 3 STEM Stations. The purpose of this family-friendly event was to support the understanding that print has meaning and can be used for different functions. Each learner left with the book, Stay Curious and Keep Exploring, so that they could continue the teaching/learning at home.
”BEE Our Guest”: 4C Stress Free Family Night...
Mrs. Cayton, Ms. Davis, Ms. Merendino, and Mrs. Mullenax hosted a Family Night, "4C Stress Free Family Night", which had the participants to rotate through 4 learning stations – 2 mathematics and 2 reading. The focus of the math stations was to afford learners the opportunity to connect fractions with real-life applications; while the reading stations illuminated strategies that would support questioning and vocabulary skills.
"BEE Our Guest"... Mrs. Koski, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Ridenour hosted a Family Night, "All Aboard the Game Train", which incorporated board games, Chutes and Ladders, Connect 4, and Jenga, into teaching/learning. Each learner left with a game so that they could continue the teaching/learning at home.
"BEE Our Guest"... Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Ridenour, and Mrs. Wilson, hosted a Family Night, "Second Grade is NOT ‘Board’ with Learning", which incorporated board games, Jenga, Guess Who, and Hi, Ho, Cherry-O, into teaching/learning. Each learner left with a game of their choice so that they could continue the teaching/learning at home.
