The Great Christmas Challenge…
Fourth Grade ENGINEERS were charged with designing and building a catapult that would launch a mini marshmallow. The best engineering design was determined by the catapult that launched the mini marshmallow the farthest. Overseeing the engineers in this endeavor was Ms. Nichols, Library/Media Teacher.





Reading Around the Christmas Tree…
Third Grade Learners cozied themselves up around the Christmas Tree with their favorite books and read while their “hot chocolate barista”, Ms. Nichols, Library/Media Teacher, tailored their “orders” using various flavors and sizes of marshmallows. Once prepared, she cheerfully served her “patrons”.




Chefs’ Apprentice Program …
Chefs, Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Stutler, share their craft with some of our novice “pastry chefs” to create gingerbread houses.





Stinger Store Lunchtime Activity -> “What’s the scoop?”
The CHALLENGE: In a one-minute time period, scoop as many cotton balls from a field of cotton balls into a container using a plastic spoon while being blindfolded. The winner of the challenge is determined by the person who has the most cotton balls in his/her container at the end of the timeframe.





Stinger Store Lunchtime Activity -> “Getting Hosed…”
The CHALLENGE: In a one-minute time period, remove 4 pennies from the leg portions of a pair of pantyhose WITHOUT touching the nylons. The winner of the challenge is determined by the person who has the most pennies out of their pantyhose at the end of the timeframe.





Stinger Store Lunchtime Activity -> “In the Air Tonight”
The CHALLENGE: In a one-minute time period, keep as many balloons as you can afloat in the air. The winner of the challenge is determined by the person who has the most balloons in the air at the end of the timeframe.

1st Grade Family Night incorporating STEM into reading and problem solving skills





Please remember at 8:30am instruction begins. If you arrive at 8:30am or after then you MUST walk your learner to the front door and sign them in. Please do not drop off your child with no adult outside.

The CHALLENGE: In a one-minute time period, build a tower using apples. The winner of the challenge is determined by the person who stacks the most apples within the timeframe.

The CHALLENGE: In a one-minute time period, “fish” for goldfish using only a straw. The winner of the challenge is determined by the person who “catches” the most fish.




Math Field Day Practice...
Ms. Merendino has been a "busy bee" preparing our mathematicians for the Marion County Math Field Day Competition.
We wish them the best of luck in the competition!


"BEE Our Guest"...
Mrs. Kellar, Mrs. Merrill, Mrs. Parrish, and Ms. Rakocky hosted a Family Night, "Third Grade Has a Need - A Need to Read", which interwove social-emotional learning with reading strategies utilizing literature as the medium.





Mrs. Ridenour and the 2nd grade team at East Dale Elementary presented classroom supplies to Mrs. Cook the school intervention specialist at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital that will be used to help children keep up with their studies while in the hospital.
