Parents and students: If your child is quarantined and checking google classroom for assignments, please check the classwork tab in google classroom. It seems many students just check the stream and what comes up when you first get in. That only shows the items that are marked as "assignments" in google classroom. It doesn't show everything when they first sign in. They need to click the classwork tab at the top, as well as look at the stream.
7th and 8th grade art students at East Fairmont Middle created "lockers" as a get to know me activity in their art class. Parts of the locker were dedicated to things such as the student's name, their favorite class, and interests. The inside of the locker was dedicated to a place they would like to be.
East Fairmont Middle School is getting the opportunity to allow all students STEAM experiences through the simulated workplace experiences provided by Mrs. Margie Suder. Our sixth graders are currently spending four half days working with Ms. Suder to build a replica of the brain that allows them to collect data that simulates what would happen to the human brain when an individual would receive some kind of blow to the head. Groups are then working to develop "helmets" for their brain that should help lessen the effects. Students are then conducting experiments to see how successful their creation was. Each grade level will participate in a different simulated program during the first quarter of the school year this year.

MCS Child Nutrition Office has received word that its application as a countywide Community Eligibility Program has been approved for the 2021-22 school year. All students in MCS have the opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch at school at no cost through CEP. The CEP was enacted as a result of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act and provides universal meal service to children in high-poverty areas. What does this mean for students? If benefits become available again this year through the Pandemic EBT, ALL MCS families now qualify for these benefits. Marion County is an equal opportunity provider.
Like businesses across the nation, the MCS Child Nutrition Dept. has been experiencing some outs and shortages from our suppliers. MCS will continue to substitute products as possible from our suppliers. If we have to change menus, we work diligently to try to give plenty of notice to students and families. Updates are sent through your child’s school as necessary. We appreciate your patience, grace, and understanding.
Thursday's lunch at East Fairmont Middle will be a bag lunch which will contain a wow butter and jelly sandwich.
Help the WV DHHR and WVU Health Affairs gather data about Marion County. The Mountain State Assessment of Trends in Community Health (MATCH) is voluntary, confidential, and non-identifiable. See WVMATCHsurvey.org.
Tomorrow is picture day at East Fairmont Middle. These pictures will also be the ones used for the yearbook so encourage your child to look their best!
