East Fairmont Middle would like to welcome Stephanie Brown to the Hornet Family. Stephanie will be teaching 5th grade social studies here in the fall. Below is a brief bio that she wrote to share with our Hornet Family. "My name is Stephanie Brown, and I am really excited to be a new member of the EFMS Hornet family! I graduated from EFHS in 1997, Fairmont State College in 2001, and WVU in 2007. I have a BA in Elementary Education with a middle school math specialization and a MA in Reading. I've taught for 21 years in both Marion & Monongalia County Schools. I am working hard toward becoming a National Board Certified Teacher. I come from a family of educators, and teaching young people is my passion! My favorite subjects to teach are social studies and writing. I enjoy bringing history to life for my students. I believe all students have greatness inside them. My mission as a teacher is to help each student see their light and fan its flame. I have an amazing husband, Kolin, and am mom to a sensational sixth grader, Kyle. We love cats, camping, and church. Outside of school, I enjoy singing, playing the piano, Appalachian folklore (especially ghost stories), and exploring WV or wherever our camper takes us!" Welcome Stephanie!

If your child currently resides in another attendance area but you want them to attend East Fairmont Middle, please remember that you must have a transfer request on record with the middle school. Even if your child attended an East Side Elementary School, you must still fill out a form, have it approved, and keep it on file at the middle school (the one filled out at the elementary level does not continue on to the middle school). Please call (304) 367-2123 for more information.

2022 - 2023 School Supply Lists Teachers will give class specific supply requests to students the first week of school. However, as you start preparing for the new school year here are a few basic supplies that would be beneficial to have on hand as the year starts: Some kind of folder system for organization such as a trapper keeper, loose leaf paper, a few notebooks, plenty of pencils and pens, erasers, glue sticks, and some kind of coloring utensils such as crayons or colored pencils. Most importantly, your child will need a clear water bottle that is made so it will not leak if spilled.

Thank you to the amazing teachers who have dedicated so much time and energy to make our 8th grade recognition and cookout such an enjoyable and memorable experience for our students. Also, a note for families that these women are still working to try and get the video from today’s recognition in a format that we can share for you to view and we hope to post that as well as pictures of the students in the next few days!

8th grade parents: While we have heard and understand your desire to participate in a celebration of your children completing their middle school experience, we have opted to hold our recognition during the school day. Due to parking concerns, student safety concerns, and space concerns as well as other logistics concerns, the decision has been made to not allow parents to attend this event. We appreciate your desire to support your students and hope that you find alternate ways to celebrate this milestone with your children.
