East Fairmont Middle's LSIC town hall meeting will be Monday, May 9th at 5 pm in the school library.

The Family Literacy Fair will be held Saturday, April 30th from 10-2. Please see fliers for more information.

Current 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students were sent a link in their google classroom to a form that they can submit regarding the classes they are interesting in taking next year at East Fairmont Middle. Students were told not to submit these forms until after they had discussed this with their parents. Submissions will be accepted from 4 pm today, until Friday during their a/a period. Please discuss these with your students and have them ask their a/a teacher or an administrator questions before submitting.

Current 6th and 7th grade students only: STEM applications for next years 7th/8th grade STEM will be available Monday, April 25 from Mrs. Pill or Mr. Leshko. Applications must be completed and returned to Mrs. Pill or Mr. Leshko no later than Wednesday, May 4. No exceptions. Current members will need to reapply.

8th grade only! 8th grade is planning to order t-shirts for this year’s outgoing class. T-shirt order forms were sent home with students yesterday and are due back Thursday, April 28th. Each shirt is $15. Use the link below to order one or send your student back to school with the paper order form after Spring Break. April is known as the the month that celebrates the military-connected child. Did you know that East Middle is a Purple Star School? The Purple Star Award is a designation assigned to schools which display a special commitment to supporting military children and their families. To celebrate Purple Up! Week, April 11th-15th, East Middle is hosting a spirit week before Spring Break. Monday is wear a shirt that represents your favorite military branch! This could be Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, etc. Tuesday is wear camo day! Wednesday is Purple Up! Day. Wear your favorite purple shirt. You may end up on the Marion County BOE Facebook page!

Formal is only for 7th and 8th graders who are enrolled at East Fairmont Middle School. No one from another school or another grade will be permitted in the door. 2. The cost is $10 per person if purchased in advance. $15 per person at the door. 3. Tickets will be available for purchase in the office after spring break. 4. Refreshments provided. Donations of cookies, chips, water, and pop are appreciated.

8th grade students have been participating in a two day STEAM experience at our newly renovated STEAM lab in which they are gaining working knowledge of architectural jobs and skills.

East Fairmont Middle School students will participate in the yearly WVGSA the week of May 2nd. Students need to be sure to be in school and on time throughout this week. Please try to avoid appointments that would cause a student to have to miss that week if at all possible. Please make sure to have your student check their earbud ports before that week and make sure chromebooks are charged and ready to go. Thank you!

EFMS has been experiencing inconsistent heating problems for a number of years. We had a team from WVDE and Emcor at the site in January to assess the concerns and give us a projected estimate. It is projected to be a substantial amount to repair the system. We have portable heaters in impacted classrooms and hallways. We are in the process of getting the final approval and costs from the WVDE to utilize Round 3 funding to make the repairs to the HVAC and are hopeful we can get this approval so that we can make the repairs as soon as possible. Maintenance has been in to evaluate the situation and reports that the building is currently around 70 degrees in the interior.

East Fairmont Middle School 7th and 8th grade choir students participated in 49th Annual Margaret Pantalone Choral Festival this evening at North Marion.

Parents: Students have two options for lunch, they can bring a lunch from home with them in the morning or they may eat hot lunch here at school. Doordash to our school is not an acceptable form of student lunch options. The office will not accept and deliver doordash orders from this point forward for students.

Students were provided a free pair of wired ear buds when they received their chromebooks. Students need these ear buds for assignments as well as testing. If they have lost or broken these, additional pairs can be purchased in the office for $1 a piece.

8th graders are working cooperatively in their Steam experiences to create a model house.
