MCS congratulates Alexander O’Neil, recipient of the Seth Burton Memorial Foundation Scholarship, presented at the 68th Marion County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. O’Neil is a 2022 North Marion High School graduate and will pursue Electronics Engineering Technology at FSU.

In the pursuit of welcoming students back tonight, Monongah Middle School held an open house to meet the staff, tour the school, and hear about supports and great plans for 2022-23. 🔎

“For the record you are a champion.”That is the message etched in vinyl that MCS secretaries received today as Treasurer Scott Reider and BOE President Costello welcomed them. An original vinyl nets up to $20,000 these days. We know our secretaries are so much more - priceless.

A top notch team of nurses in MCS supports students physically so they can focus on learning. Jeremy Dixon, TBI Outreach Coordinator, WVU Ctr for Excellence in Disabilities, shares tools today about the vital link they play to educate others on the impact of TBI on learning.

School counselors are vital in MCS. All Counselors and Graduation Coaches at each high school returned for 2022-23 to learn a new tool in career exploration, access to employment and post secondary ed opportunities. Families can review child’s transcript and other school data.

Often the first face of MCS a student sees each day or the last face at the end of a bus trip to a sporting event or extracurricular activity, welcome back to our hardworking bus operators, who started training at North Marion High School this week. We don’t run without you! 🚍

One of the foundations of what MCS does on a daily basis is showcased in the hardworking team of custodians we have throughout the county. Welcome back to our custodians, who kicked off the 2022-23 school year with training at WFMS on new techniques and reminders of their value.

MCS Families: Students entering 7th & 12th grades are required to have the Tdap & meningitis vaccines in order to return on the first day of school, or to participate in summer practices/activities. Students may not attend school without proper verification of these vaccines. Students entering PreK, Kindergarten, 2nd, 7th, and 12th grades are required to show proof of Health and Dental exams. Please send documents to your child’s school as soon as possible. ALSO, new state law requires that any student who has Emergency Medications ordered must have the medication administration form AND the medication available at school or the student may not attend school.
