Congratulations to the MCS Golden Horseshoe winners for 2022! Since 1931, the WVDE names knights of the Golden Horseshoe, who demonstrated exceptional knowledge of WV history on an exam. This year, 221 winners stat-wide will join the ranks of WV citizens who have won this prestigious award. The county-wide Marion County Literacy Fair and Student Art Exhibit is scheduled for Saturday, April 30th at the Marion County Board of Education Building (Old Armory) from 10 AM to 2 PM. The event is FREE to the public. Families will receive FREE books, additional materials, and experience exciting activities. Marion County students' talent shines through multiple displays of artwork and projects. Please join Marion County Schools on this Saturday.

Today and everyday MCS celebrates Administrative Professionals Day. The day recognizes the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, executive assistants, personal assistants, receptionists, client services representatives, and other administrative support professionals.

Nearly 40 representatives from business, industry, career technical and higher education were on hand to meet families and students at Marion County School’s first county-wide Industry, Career and Business Fair for grades 5-12 tonight, 5-7 PM at the Fairmont Senior Field House.

Dreaming of the Future: Mrs. Moore's first grade class at Jayenne Elementary began creating time capsules on 02/22/22 to be opened on 03/03/33, which will be their senior year of high school. They included photos, projects, drawings, and personal items.

MCS is participating in the inaugural WV Military Signing Week, which acknowledges and honors students who have made a commitment to military service in the U.S. Armed Forces following their graduation. Ceremonies are scheduled at East Fairmont and North Marion later this week.

Up, Up and Away to Nationals: East Fairmont Middle is sending two teams to 2022 American Rocketry Challenge National Finals Fly-off. EFMS has had at least one team qualify for the American Rocketry Challenge since 2018. As the world’s largest rocket contest with 5,000 students nationwide competing, it lets middle and high students design, build and launch model rockets by solving engineering problems.

Nearly 300 families visited the Mountaineer FoodBank, brought to the campus of North Marion High School today, by Connecting Link and Director Jone Webb today. Fresh vegetables, pork loin, pistachios, and more were provided by the Mountaineer FoodBank.

Just as Popular to Young and Old: The Easter Bunny hopped on over to East Fairmont High during lunch yesterday to wish students a good spring break. Marion County Schools wishes all students a Happy Spring Break, April 14-22. Students return on April 25, 2022.

Inspiring Budding Artists to Continue to Grow: Fairmont Senior High School Madrigal Chamber Singers, under the direction of Mr. DeVito, visited Jayenne Elementary School this week to share their music with the students and encourage participation in the Fine Arts.
