Marion County Schools salutes our school counselors. "School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused" is the theme for National School Counseling Week, which will be celebrated February 5-9, 2024.

Marion County Schools celebrates Pleasant Valley Elementary Principal Chris Binotto for his service to our students as a social studies teacher and school administrator, as well as his selfless service to his country.

Spending some time at Pleasant Valley Elementary to read STICKS aloud in the 2nd grade class of Ms. Delancey as the students talk about the big day tomorrow, Groundhog Day and the 100th day of school, 100 days celebrating learning and growing together.

First graders at Fairview Elementary learned about adjectives today by using their senses to describe popcorn. Students agreed there was no "BUTTER" way to learn about adjectives than through a tasty snack.

WEST VIRGINIA FAFSA DAY: West Virginia FAFSA Day is February 1, 2024. This day is marked as a collaborative effort to heighten awareness of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This year's focus is the unveiling of the #BetterFAFSA

Fairview Elementary enjoyed a great time learning and playing together. Marion County Literacy Volunteer Pam Shanholtz and Kelly Garcia shared information about reading. Mr. Coleman called bingo games in between so families could win some books. Another great night in Fairview!

Recognizing East Park Elementary's Students of the Month and guest speaker Eric Wright, the EFHS girl's soccer coach, who talked about fairness. The classroom with the best attendance was also recognized. Great work!

Weigh in and vote: Barrackville students of Amelia Mullens need your help. They gathered supplies outside and spent two days constructing bird nests that could be picked up and withstand a wind test. Comment on your pick with the number or letter posted beside each nest.

Pierpont's Aviation Maintenance Technology program is holding a job fair for prospective employers to meet with Pierpont aviation maintenance students.

Marion County Schools and Principal Green welcomed Corporal Hawkins to Fairmont Senior High School with an introduction from Sheriff Riffle today.

March 2, 2024 is WVU SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENGINEERS Girls' STEM Day.

Popping in on Ms. Delligatti's 5th grade classroom to thank her for 21 years with Marion County Schools as a special educator, grade 2, and grade 5 teacher at West Fairmont Middle School. Students in 5th grade were working on math and also building relationships by sharing basketball game (Nice work #20! 💙) Buddy Bench, and spelling bee sightings of the Superintendent as well.

Spotlight on West Fairmont Middle School Principal June Haught and 28 years as a teacher of preschool special needs, grades 1 and 2, and 6 years as a building administrator. You bring P.O.W.E.R. to our team for your relationships with students, WVU EdAdventure Science camp pilot, and representation of MCS at a national presentation. Music has many purposes in Marion County Schools, including music therapy at West Fairmont Middle School to help students master communication tools for the real world.
