Who is loving science? The 5th and 6th graders of East Fairmont Middle School today at the Marion County Schools STEAM Center took on the Pringles challenge, where they had to create a free-standing Pringles circle.

Mentorship at its finest in Marion County Schools as new teachers met with Marion County Schools Master Teachers tonight at Pierpont Community and Technical College.

Enjoying the "fruits" of the labor of the MCS Child Nutrition Program and our cooks. The Fruit & Vegetable Snack Program is operated in five of our schools: Watson, Monongah Elementary, Fairview Elementary, East Park, and Blackshere. Pictured are Moon Drop Grapes, Tri-colored Cauliflower, Pink Pineapples, Watermelon Radishes, Blood Oranges, Lucy Glo Apples, Hummus, Concord Grapes and Figs, to name a few. This program is a grant from the USDA to promote awareness with young students about different products that they may not see or have the opportunity to taste. It helps to broaden their horizons and gives them a healthy mid-afternoon treat.

The Marion County Board of Education held its annual meeting with local legislators to provide input and voice concerns about issues facing public education currently as well as hear perspectives from legislators as they go into the next Legislative Session.

Marion County Schools has been informed by First Energy/Mon Power that work on a substation will be performed on Friday, December 1, 2023. There will be interruptions to power for the following schools in Marion County. Staff and students of East Fairmont High School, Pleasant Valley, County Office, Watson, Jayenne, East Park, East Fairmont Middle will not report to school on December 1, 2023 due to these planned power outages.
