November is Military Appreciation Month: The West Virginia Common Ground Partnership is proud to release a new brochure, highlighting programs designed to inspire student career exploration and enhance STEM education. The military offers incredible STEM related careers and opportunities for participation in postsecondary education and programs which empower educators with STEM supports and resources. Furthermore, the Civil Air Patrol offers opportunities for qualifying educators and students to experience STEM through flight.

The State of West Virginia enters into a partnership with Tutor.com to provide expert online tutoring, test prep, and job support for WV public library patrons across the state. TutorWV.com is available daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at no cost for West Virginians of all ages.

Governor Jim Justice invites all students in Grades K-12 to participate in the 2024 Almost Heaven Governor's Art Exhibition. Designed to showcase student creativity and the arts, this year's exhibition is a call for one-of-a-kind postcard designs illustrating star gazing at your favorite West Virginia park or public lands. Selected postcard artwork will later be used by the West Virginia Department of Tourism to personally invite travelers to Almost Heaven. ARTS ALIVE POSTER SUBMISSIONS: Poster submissions for Arts Alive 2024 are now being accepted. Students in Grades 6-12 are encouraged to submit an entry. See: https://wvde.us/middle-secondary-learning/the-arts/arts-alive/poster/. The winning poster will become the marketing voice for the 2024 Arts Alive as the program cover and will be professionally printed, framed, and presented to the student winner at the Arts Alive Main Stage Event on April 26, 2024. Additionally, the winning poster will be hung in the permanent gallery of posters at the WVDE, and the top three posters will be featured in the Great Hall of the Culture Center on the night of the show. All submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024.

The West Virginia PTA is proud to announce that five $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors in 2024. Scholarships will be presented to all winners in April of 2024. Thank you to North Marion High School, which hosted the Big 10 Cheerleading competition tonight.

Toby Heaney, retired Army Sergeant, came to Blackshere Elementary 21st Century After School Program, to talk to the kids about his experiences in honor of Veterans Day.

Another successful "Lunch with Students" day at Mannington Middle School 🐊 Well done 7th grade families 🐊 and well done to all the "behind the scenes" MMS Staff that made it possible 🐊 Monday will be 5th grade ❤️

Our hearts go out to Husky Country and the family of Gerry White, state championship football coach and a retired Marion County Schools teacher, who has passed.

Pleasant Valley Elementary honors veterans today during a very special ceremony.

MCS was a stop on Chamber of Commerce Young Leaders Local Government and First Responders Day agenda today as 10th grade students from all 3 high schools participated in a mock board of education meeting with Superintendent Dr. Heston and a review of how policies are approved.
