Cultivating Citizenship. Thank you to Officer Romito for taking time to be the special guest at East Park Elementary this morning to speak with students about the characteristics of good citizenship.

The journey continues for West Fairmont Middle's 6th graders at WVU Science Adventure Camp at Summit Bechtel Reserve. On Day 2 groups were separated for different activities throughout the day. Activities included archery, canoeing, rock climbing, and exploring the National Park!

Fairmont State University announces its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat on the Top Deck of the Fairmont State Parking Garage. FREE event with trick-or-treating, games, and more! Free parking for the event will be available on Floors 1-5 of the parking garage.

Have you been hearing about the magic of North Marion High School Theatre Troupe's The Little Mermaid all day? We have. Several MCS elementary schools attended the school day performances at NMHS to become aware of opportunities in the arts.

Thank you to Mayor Bolyard and the Fairmont City Council for your support and recognition of our Marion County Schools retirees. Mrs Michael and Mrs Yanero accepted a proclamation in their honor.

Day 1 is in the books for West Fairmont Middle School 6th graders at WVU Science Adventure School at Summit Betchel Reserve. Hiking, team building, and the 7 principles of LNT - Leave No Trace! Tomorrow groups will participate in archery, canoeing, and exploring a National Park!

WV native, author, illustrator, Ashley Belote visited Fairview Elementary. Her book, "Witch & Wombat," is featured at the Scholastic Book Fair this year. She shared the book and taught how to draw a character from the book. PTO purchased a set of her books for all students.

Marion County Schools continuing supports of new teachers at the New Teacher Academy tonight.  The focus was a round table discussion with our own MCS experts, Master Teachers, and Cathie Metheny, who taught engagement strategies.

Gene Riley reminded students know your worth and always be kind. Today White Hall honored a community friend with a Buddy Bench on the playground in his honor. In a collaboration with Communities of Shalom and Prevention Coalition, the students held a dedication for his family.

Achievement, Balance, Confidence, and Discipline. That is our P.O.W.E.R in Marion County Schools. The 21st Century After School Program Grant at East Park began karate sessions for students tonight. Healthy bodies make healthy minds for student growth.
