Career Technical Education Camp for middle school students began today to build awareness of CTE process at MCTC.

Students are rocking camp games at Jayenne today as 4th graders recover instruction. MCS SOLE summer programming began today through July 13 for students in grades K-8, including CTE Camp at MCTC, aviation sessions at Pierpont CTC, theater workshops at FSU Academy of the Arts.

Today we celebrate the national holiday, Juneteenth National Independence Day, which is rooted in June 19, 1865, with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. The Juneteenth National Independence Day Act was signed into law on June 17, 2021.

Marion County Schools wishes all our fathers and all those who assume the role of father daily Happy Father’s Day! The first observance of Father’s Day began right here in Fairmont, WV July 5, 1908. It was made a national holiday in the U.S. in 1972 by President Richard Nixon.

Are you a high school student who is interested in learning more about a career in nursing? Fairmont State University’s College of Nursing will host a free nursing academy for local high school students. Summer SOLE begins in MCS next week for approximately 800 students in grades K through 8. Teachers and administrators participate in planning and professional development today for the programming.

Sheriff Riffle, Dr. Hage and others meet to plan upgrades to security and safety in Marion County Schools.

Collaborating for Support and Recruitment: Building a stronger community of support for teachers entering perhaps the most impactful profession. FSU and MCS teachers and administrators serve today to provide input on the field experiences for a pilot group on teacher residency.

Do you know who the elected official is who is keeper of the Great Seal of West Virginia? These Marion County Schools Golden Horseshoe winners from Barrackville, Fairview, and West Fairmont Middle know. They were recognized and knighted at the WV State Capitol today.

It’s Flag Day, June 14, 2022. The holiday was started by a teacher when, in 1885, he led his school in the first formal observance in a small-town Wisconsin classroom. In 1949, Congress approved the national observance, and President Harry Truman signed it into law.

Citizenship. Leadership. Patriotism. Marion County’s future leaders are represented well at WV Rhododendron Girls State tonight at Davis & Elkins College as Superintendent Dr. Hage participated in a panel of female superintendents from WV. Gov. Sidney Megna was moderator.

MCS Families: Students entering 7th & 12th grades are required to have the Tdap & meningitis vaccines in order to return on the first day of school, or to participate in summer practices/activities. Students may not attend school without proper verification of these vaccines. Students entering PreK, Kindergarten, 2nd, 7th, and 12th grades are required to show proof of Health and Dental exams. Please send documents to your child’s school as soon as possible. ALSO, new state law requires that any student who has Emergency Medications ordered must have the medication administration form AND the medication available at school or the student may not attend school.
