“All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts…” Fairmont Senior High’s Theatre Troupe, directed by Teacher Erin Adams-Zuchowski, will be performing Desdemona in the Afterlife, on Sat. Feb. 12 at the Regional competition at FSHS in hopes of earning a spot at the state competition in Huntington. “That's the magic of art and the magic of theatre: it has the power to transform an audience…and give them an experience that changes their life, opens their hearts and their minds and the way they think.” NMHS Theatre Troupe, directed by Teacher Celi Oliveto, will be performing Moliere's The Miser, on Sat. Feb. 12 at FSHS in hopes of earning a spot at the state competition in Huntington. Last year, NMHS won the International Thespian Society's top honor and was one of only seven schools in WV to submit a play during the pandemic.

February is American Heart Month, a time when all are reminded to focus on cardiovascular health. Shout out to the staff at Pleasant Valley Elementary, who wore their red on "National Wear Red Day" to raise awareness for Heart Disease.

Marion County Schools will be on its fifth NTID “Climate Control Day” for Friday, February 4, 2022. Students remain home for instruction.

The 15th annual SMART529 "When I Grow Up" essay contest is open for WV students, grades K through 5th grade through February 25, 2022. Each of 15 regional winners will be awarded a $500 SMART529 higher education savings account. Their schools will receive $500 cash. Earth Science students at FSHS celebrate Black History Month with a visual creation of the periodic table. Teacher Brooke Stark asked students to complete research. The initials are the symbol of the element. Students included birth and death date and a QR code to find out more.

Mark you calendars for the 21st Annual Francis Marion Ham, Bacon, and Egg Show on March 4th at 7 PM at the Marion County Technical Center. Our students, the Marion County FFA Members, have spent hundreds of hours preparing their exhibits for this show. You can attend in person to make a bid and invest in furthering the students' education and the FFA program offered at MCTC. Paint Marion County Schools Red on Friday, Feb. 4 as students and staff participate in National Wear Red Day to raise money and awareness of heart disease and strokes in millions of women. These claim the lives of 1 in 3 women and 80% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable.
