Did you find the Elf on the Shelf this morning? Principal June Haught greeted students at West Fairmont Middle and wished them "good morning" in the Elf's mischievous way on this last day of school for students before Christmas break, December 21 through December 31.

Santa made a surprise visit as a brother, who has been deployed with the US Army for the past year, was reunited with his sister, a student at Mannington Middle School. Soldier Bryson Satterfield dressed as Santa and surprised his sister during a Christmas assembly today at MMS.

What does it feel like to be one of Santa’s helpers? Through Lowes, Billy Oliver brought in a toy kit for each kindergartener in White Hall’s Mrs. Jordan’s class to assemble. Each child received safety goggles and used hammer and nails to construct toys for “Santa’s workshop.”

Developing leaders and helping their community, the Fairmont Senior INTERACT Club, a part of Rotary International, organized a Christmas Angel Project this year. The Fairmont Senior club fundraised, purchased, and wrapped presents for needy youth in their community.

Marching “down Santa Claus Lane” at the Rivesville parade tonight, you could catch the MCS STEAM bus and Fairmont Senior High School band as the town welcomes back the first Christmas parade in 20 years there.

Sharing Their Light and Talents: The East Fairmont High School Elizabethan Chamber Singers, under direction of Michael Carpenter, and the East Fairmont High Honeybees performed at a community showcase of regional talent tonight at the Crystalline Events Christmas Spectacular.

MCS thanks our local law enforcement agencies and the WV State Police for your collaboration today to ensure an increased presence and peace of mind in each of our schools in response to a nationwide trend on TikTok. There were no known threats or derogatory findings regarding this event in Marion County Schools. Thank you to law enforcement, our administrators, and our employees who worked together to ensure safety measures were in place, reviewed, and in operation today to provide for the safety of our students.

Celebrating students’ academic growth, Monongah Middle is on target as teachers praise students for reaching short term and long term goals this year in reading and math.

Bringing strategies to life, MCS employees attended Back to Basics Training with Peggy Hovatter of the WV Autism Training Center tonight. It was est. in 1984 by WV Legislature and housed at Marshall to serve families of WV with autism spectrum disorders, educators, and others.

“In the absence of knowledge, people make their own truth” was the discussion by MCS high school administrators tonight in HACKING LEADERSHIP book study.

MCS has again been chosen to participate in the WV CARDIAC Project in collaboration with WVU Extension Service. In January more info will come home with students in K, 2 and 5. Math is everywhere and a recent project at Mannington Middle prompted students to think of graphing in a new and festive way!

While “visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads,” the hardworking cooks at Fairmont Senior High School prepared a special Christmas dinner today for Marion County’s largest school.
