Attendance Matters at East Fairmont Middle School where student artist Hailey Hauser created this post card that will be sent home from staff to let the student and family know they are missed. It’s part of the school’s positive behavior interventions to support students.


October is Domestic Violence Month. U.S. Department of Justice estimates that 1.3 million women are victims of physical violence by a partner every year. With the increase in students with autism across the nation, MCS is training staff on strategies. White Hall Elementary is spending their afternoon with Peggy Hovatter, Autism Specialist with the WV Autism Training Center, to learn ways to best serve their students with autism.



East Park Elementary staff is talking about Empowered Poverty, Role Model Schools, Conscious Discipline with Dr. Amy Strange — and a United Way Soup Cook Off to boot — as part of staff development to reflect and learn new strategies to support students and our communities.



It takes a team approach and the staff at Barnes Learning Center is on it! Barnes Team wrapping up faculty senate and breaking out into teams for small group discussions and reflections on their student achievement and school programming to drive student support and growth.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. MCS is proud of our staff and students who are wearing pink and supporting the cause this month in various ways. American Cancer Society estimates 287,850 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed and 43,250 women will die of breast cancer in 2022.


Fairview Elementary staff is spending the morning in professional development with Peggy Hovatter, Autism Specialist with the WV Autism Training Center, learning strategies and practices to best serve their students with autism.




Prickett’s Fort in beautiful Marion County is often busy with runners, history buffs, outdoor performances, kayakers and boaters. Add some STEAM to the mix! Teachers Margie Suder and Rachel Hulderman held a science event for grades K-3 students as part of Remake Learning.



Looking for something to do this Fall weekend? Pick up a book and learn of characters, unknown lands and heroes. Reading 20 minutes daily at home, means a child will hear 1.8 million words per year, read 851 hours by 6th grade, and will likely score better than 90% of peers.



Protecting and Educating: The Pleasant Valley Fire Department visited EFHS Pre-K students.





The 5th graders in Crystal Adkins class at Rivesville Elementary/Middle School made witches brooms. They are reading The Witches by Roald Dahl in class.
