In collaboration with the MC Health Department, MCS is recommending Watson Pre-K families keep students home for monitoring Sept. 13-16. Students return on Sept. 20. There are 5 verified RSV cases in Pre-K. If you need more info about the symptoms of RSV, contact your physician.

In collaboration with the MC Health Department, MCS is closing a Kindergarten classroom at East Dale Elementary School through September 13. These K students will return on September 14. There are 5 positive cases as verified through contact tracing. This closure is for 10 days after the initial exposure. Families who have been impacted are being notified by MCS.
Congratulations to Hannah McIntire, 10th grader at NMHS, who is the latest recipient of a $100,000 scholarship to a WV higher ed institution. This is part of Gov. Justice’s “Do it for BabyDog” sweepstakes. Hannah’s mother is one of MCS’s own as a teacher. #MCSgetbackinthegame

MCS Child Nutrition Office has received word that its application as a countywide Community Eligibility Program has been approved for the 2021-22 school year. All students in MCS have the opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch at school at no cost through CEP. The CEP was enacted as a result of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act and provides universal meal service to children in high-poverty areas. What does this mean for students? If benefits become available again this year through the Pandemic EBT, ALL MCS families now qualify for these benefits. Marion County is an equal opportunity provider.
Like businesses across the nation, the MCS Child Nutrition Dept. has been experiencing some outs and shortages from our suppliers. MCS will continue to substitute products as possible from our suppliers. If we have to change menus, we work diligently to try to give plenty of notice to students and families. Updates are sent through your child’s school as necessary. We appreciate your patience, grace, and understanding.
Is there anything more beautiful than sound of play? Blackshere Elementary knows that sound. A once overgrown, out of control garden is a beautiful PreK playground. MCS Maintenance prepared site. Theresa Michael got a Bowers grant 2 years in a row for ground cover and fencing.
