August 23, 2024
We are very excited about the efforts of our teachers, students, and staff on the 2024 WVGSA. Congratulations on behalf of the principals, Marion County Board of Education, Marion County Schools, and myself.
Student assessment results for the 2024 West Virginia General Summative Assessment are now available in the online Family Portal.
Counties and schools will provide a unique access code for each student who took the WVGSA in grades 3-8. This code will allow students and their parents/guardians to access student test results by logging into the online Family Portal.
The Family Portal will provide better access to student test results for parents/guardians. It will include detailed information about student performance in math, English language arts, and science, as well as access to Lexile and Quantile measures and the Lexile/Quantile Growth Plan.
Additional resources to help explain student performance and to help parents and guardians provide support to their students will be included.
To further assist parents/guardians in understanding their student’s performance on the WVGSA, in addition to the results provided in the Family Portal, an individual video score report also is available. Counties and schools will provide a unique link to each student’s video report.
If parents and guardians need help in accessing the family portal or the video score report, they may contact their child’s school.
For more information, contact: Kristin DeVaul, Marion County Schools County Test Coordinator, at kdevaul@k12.wv.us or your child’s school.
In Spring 2024, your student took the West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA), which measures academic progress for students and schools in West Virginia. Students in Grades 3-8 took the English language arts (ELA) reading, ELA writing, and mathematics sections of the test, with students in Grades 5 and 8 also taking science.
You may access your student’s individual assessment results for the WVGSA on the Family Portal. An access code, along with information on how to log in to the Family Portal will be sent to your student’s K12 student email address. Please ask your child about this important email and access code in their K12 email.
The Family Portal will provide better access to student test results for parents/guardians. It will include detailed information about student performance in math, English language arts, and science, as well as access to Lexile and Quantile measures and the Lexile/Quantile Growth Plan.
To further assist parents/guardians in understanding your student’s performance on the WVGSA, in addition to the results provided in the Family Portal, the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) is providing an individual video score report for your student.
A unique access code for the Family Portal and a link to your student’s individual video score report will be sent to your student’s K12 student email address. Please work with your student to retrieve the Family Portal access code and the video score report link in the email.
Once you receive the email, log in to the Family Portal to see your student’s WVGSA results by clicking on the Family Portal link at https://wv.portal.cambiumast.com/families.html, enter the access code, your student’s date of birth, and his or her first name.
To access the video score report, click on the unique link provided in the email. Once you click on the link, you will be taken to a site where you will need to enter your student’s date of birth to view your student’s video report. In addition to the report, you will have access to resources to help your student.
After reviewing your student’s assessment results, we encourage you to talk with his or her teacher to discuss your student’s academic progress.
If you have any questions, please contact your student’s school.
Sincerely,
Dr. Donna Heston
