The MCS STEAM program invites students in K-3rd grade to a Remake Learning Day. Students will explore nature through several interactive STEAM activities about the water cycle, trees, and more. A) Fee Waiver Initiative
Prospective bus operators will have fees (below) waived by signing a promissory note of 18 months which outlines a commitment to work in Marion County Schools as a bus operator.
$50.00- written test to Charleston - Marion County Schools will pay fee one time
$90.00 - hands on test - Marion County S c h o o l s w i l l pay a one-time fee
$25.00 - $75.00 - licensure fee - Marion County Schools will a one-time fee
B) 4 Week Program Completion
Substitute bus operators who complete the required 56 hours of mandatory school bus operator training in the four-week window will be compensated with a $25.00 hourly rate. Operators will sign a promissory note which mandates 18 months of substitute bus operator or full-time bus operator service to Marion County Schools.
(56 X $25.00 = $1,400.00)
C) 5 Week Program Completion
Substitute bus operators who complete the required 56 hours of mandatory school bus operator training in the five-week window will be compensated with a $20 .00
hourly rate. Operators will sign a promissory note which mandates 18 months of
substitute bus operator or full-time bus operator service to Marion County Schools.
(56 X $20.00 = $1120.00)
D) 6 Week Program Completion
Substitute bus operators who complete the required 56 hours of mandatory school bus operator training in a six-week or longer window will be compensated with a $15.00 hourly rate. Operators will sign a promissory note which mandates 18 months of substitute bus operator service or full-time bus operator service to Marion County Schools.
(56 X $15.00 = $840.00)

As every school year begins, our wish is that you and your family have a calm, easy transition. The first two weeks of school is a time to build relationships
between our schools, families, and communities. We appreciate everyone's patience and support as we work to build upon a successful 2022-22 together. On July 15, 2022, the West Virginia Department of Education implemented a new student information system. It has come to our attention that the platform many school systems in WV utilize to record and communicate student achievement, LiveGrades, is not fully functioning with the state’s new informational system. We are in constant contact with WVDE for updates and availability of LiveGrades. As soon as the platform is functional, schools will notify their communities of its availability. In the meantime, we have instructed schools to continue
accurate attendance and student grades. Feel free to communicate with your schools through phone calls or emails. We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing, and we are hoping there is a solution from WVDE on the horizon. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
