Congratulations to Margie Suder, recipient of the Sylvia Shugrue Award for Elementary School Teachers, sponsored by the National Science Teaching Association.
This award honors one elementary school teacher who has established an interdisciplinary, inquiry-based lesson plan. The lesson plan will fully reference sources of information and any relevant Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and benchmarks found in The Atlas of Science Literacy
Margie will be honored during a special evening celebration at NSTA’s National Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 28.

The award recognizes scholar athletes, who excel in the classroom and their athletic endeavors. Kya Stump of East Fairmont High School and Brody Whitehair of Fairmont Senior High School are recognized.

Turn It In! Congratulations to North Marion High School Theatre Department for its recent accomplishments at the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) in Baltimore, Maryland. This conference is one of the most prestigious and largest professional theatre gatherings in the nation. SETC comprises 12 member states of which WV is a proud member.
This year, North Marion was one of only two high schools selected to represent the entire state of West Virginia at the national SETC festival. The troupe received The Spirit of the Festival Award, an individual honor that celebrates professionalism, collaboration, and positive representation. Two NMHS students, Lydia Hatten and Aaliyah Evans, were awarded "All Star Cast Members:" individual awards for their outstanding performance work as well.
In addition, one senior participated in the SETC college auditions and received an incredible 38 callbacks from theatre programs across the country, including training programs in New York City. Students also toured the inner harbor in Baltimore, ate at the Hard Rock Cafe, attended a presentation about Edgar Allan Poe at the Poe house, and visited the National Aquarium in the learning experience.
