Fairview Middle’s “Get A Life Simulation” was held today. They partnered with Fairmont State University staff and students for this real life financial simulation for students.

Dr. Cheldon Williams, from WVU, visited the Rivesville Band this morning. Dr. Williams is the director of “The Pride of West Virginia” Marching Band, Mountaineer Basketball Pep Band, and the WVU Symphonic Band. He worked with the students on their musicality in preparation for their upcoming performance at the Region 10 Band Festival in March.



The 4th graders of Mr. Bombard's class at Jayenne did research on a significant figure for Black History Month. They made a PowerPoint presentation with interesting facts and drew a picture to present in front of class.

Blaike Hepner, a Freshman at North Marion High School, is representing the United States as your 2024 Junior Teen All Star United States. She had the WV state title and went on to compete at Nationals in Savannah, Georgia where she captured her title. You make us proud, Blake. 👑


As part of the conference, the community is invited to “It’s a Bug’s World,” an outreach event that will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 10. There will be 20 booths throughout WVU Evansdale campus with interactive activities and exhibits that include various live insects, bug-eating plants, pollinators, insect jewelry, insect origami and more.


The Marion County Association of Retired School Employees visited MCS administrators to donate $200 to each school in the county to be used for student needs such as food, clothing, and rewards. The WVARSE promoted the professional, economic, intellectual, and social well-being of its members and offer volunteer opportunities. The group meets at Middletown Commons on the 3rd Tuesday of Sept., Oct., Nov., March, April, and May at noon. All Marion County retired school employees are welcome.


Students Soar: East Fairmont Middle School 7/8 grade STEM launched rockets in hopes of returning to the American Rocketry Challenge finals again this year.






The WVDE is conducting the Artificial Intelligence in Education: West Virginia Stakeholder Survey to gather input from the public and the community. Information from this survey will be used to guide future planning for resources and supports provided to West Virginia public schools, as well as inform potential policy considerations. The survey will be open for responses through March 6, 2024. Please share the survey found at http://wvde.us/ai/ with family members, educators, administrators, and community members.


Today, first graders at Fairview Elementary school celebrated their 101st day of school. Students had to work together, plan, communicate, and persevere in order to be successful with their 101 Dalmatian STEM tasks. They dressed up as Dalmatians and had a great day!

Marion County Schools is represented well today at the West Virginia School Board Association Fall Conference as Fairview Middle Principal Rodriguez joins a panel of elite, respected, proven WV principals to speak on leadership and success. "Trust the process," Rodriguez says.
