
Marion County Seniors of the Interact Club and Dr. Hage met with the Rotary Club this morning at Sayboy’s.


Nearly 50 presenters from throughout North Central WV visited North Marion High School today for the school’s 2nd annual Career Fair, organized by Assistant Principal Henline, this morning. Fields represented ranged from electrical, daycare, FBI, social work, forestry, environmental, nursing, teaching, armed forces, forensics, government, hospitality, mining, meteorology, computer science, cosmetology, aeronautics, reality, finances, higher education, technical centers, and more. Students selected their 4 sessions to attend in classrooms, collaborating with teachers.





New scholarship program being offered by EQT – the EQT Energize Your Education Scholarship Program.
The Scholarship Program will award 15 $10,000 scholarships to graduating high school students looking to pursue a degree in a field that is utilized in the oil and gas industry, such as computer science or information technology; civil, chemical or petroleum engineering; energy or land management; environmental science; geology; safety science; or welding. The scholarships can be used at two- or four-year educational institutions.
Eligible students must be a current high school senior with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and live in one of the following counties where EQT Corporation has business operations:
• Pennsylvania - Allegheny, Bradford, Centre, Clinton, Fayette, Greene, Lycoming, Tioga, Washington, Westmoreland
• West Virginia - Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Marshall, Tyler, Wetzel
• Ohio - Belmont
Students will be evaluated based on academic history, involvement in sports and extracurricular activities, work experience, and essay response.

Planning for Summer SOLE is underway tonight as recently hired teachers meet with Administrative Assistant LD Skarzinski and the MCS C&I team to discuss programming June 21 through July 13 for grades K-8. Credit recovery for 9-12, a CTE Camp for middle school, and theater outreach options with FSU Academy for the Arts will be offered too. April is Month of the Military Child. Join Marion County Schools next week in celebrating spirit week to honor of military families, soldiers and veterans.


Attention Graduating MCS Seniors: Fairmont State has annual scholarships for STEM majors. West Virginia is filled with STEM talent. This program focuses on increasing enrollment, retention, and graduation of academically talented, low-income STEM students through special activities, scholarships, cohort building, networking, and curricular and co-curricular support. If you’re selected as an S-STEM Program Scholar, you’ll benefit from a student-driven support system and receive personal attention from peer and faculty mentors. Scholarship amounts will vary from student to student, and will be based on unmet financial need, but the average scholarship amount will be $6250.00 annually. Scholars who maintain satisfactory progress toward any of the STEM degrees listed on the reverse will be eligible to keep their scholarships for four years. The total average scholarship for four years is around $25,000.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
• You must be an incoming Freshman at FSU.
• You must have a 2.75 GPA or better.
• You must demonstrate your financial need (using your FAFSA).
• You will complete two assessments online (more information on these assessments will be sent to you when you indicate your interest in the program).
• You will be asked to complete a Field Experience Day on Fairmont State’s campus. This event will be in person (or virtual based on current Fairmont State COVID-19 protocols). More information will be sent when you indicate your interest in the program.

Congratulations to The Disability Action Center on the building dedication today. We celebrate the support that is provided to our students and families in Marion County Schools. The DAC serves over 450 children and adults with disabilities and families in Marion, Monongalia, Harrison, Taylor, and Barbour.




Congratulations to the Marion County bands that were among the over 2,000 musicians that participated in the Region 10 Band Festival this week. It is one of 10 Regional Band Festivals throughout the State of West Virginia, which are held each year and sponsored by the Secondary Schools Activities Commission in conjunction with the West Virginia Bandmasters Association.
The rating represents the overall average score given by the three judges that reviewed each band's performance of two pieces performed.
East Fairmont High School and West Fairmont Middle 7th and 8th grades were among the bands receiving superior ratings.

There were 17 high school and 28 middle schools performing this week.
The five counties representing Region 10 are Monongalia, Marion, Preston, Taylor and Harrison.
