Congratulations to Marion County
STEAM Teacher Margie Suder, who continues to make a difference in the lives of our students in grades 5-8 at the Marion County STEAM Center, built by local funds and the Maintenance Department. Suder received a 2023-2024 Innovation Grant of $5,000.00 from The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, the EQT Foundation, and the Equitrans Midstream Foundation entitled Designing Astronaut Socks.



Marion County Schools Child Nutrition has received the following communication that relates to boxes in the backpack program utilized in some of our schools that may or may not contain one of the recalled Quaker Oats bars. We are advising families that if they have any Quaker Oats bars in the backpack boxes distributed from Marion County Schools, check them and discard that item from Quaker Oats.











Barrackville Student Council collected a grand total of 416 items to be donated to families and community! Thank you all for your help and support!


Marion County Schools will have a Snow Day, Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Neither staff nor students report. Our 261 employees will report on a regular schedule.

Blackshere Elementary's after school program enjoyed special guests, George and Roy Fridley, who sang today for students.

Marion County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay schedule Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

Monongah Elementary, under the direction of Mr. Leeper, had its music concert today at North Marion High School today. 🎼🎶❤️💚

Tradition and Music to Our Ears: What a class act in the Fairmont Senior High School Madrigals, under the direction of Greg DeVito, who visited Watson and Jayenne elementary schools today and the County Office to spread cheer. 🎶🎼








Sam Noska, an 8th grade student at WFMS, along with Miss Myers and Miss Haddix visited Watson Elementary 4th grade classrooms today to read to the students. Various WFMS students and faculty will be visiting each month as a transitional activity to middle school next year.


English 11 students in Ms. Johnson's class at Fairmont Senior High School worked with perspective and inferencing skills while reading Spoon River.
